The Department of Business Development and Technology (BTECH) at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University, invites applications for assistant professorship positions in energy economics.

An assistant professorship is a fixed-term three-year position. The starting date is 1 February 2021 or as agreed upon.

The successful candidate will become part of Centre for Energy Technologies (CET).

Job description
BTECH is dedicated to excellence in technology-driven business development as well as core business economics disciplines, and given our location in the western part of Denmark with its high concentration of renewable energy sources and companies with this focus, we have – through CET – a particular focus on energy.

We are looking for eminent candidates who can strengthen our research profile. A significant part of our work involves business partners, and we often perform applied research. Candidates with research activities involving industry will be preferred.
The successful applicant is expected to teach and supervise students at bachelor’s and master’s level. Applicants should have a background in economics or business economics. Our study programmes in economics and business administration include an MSc in International Business Development and a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Administration as well as industry-oriented training. Relevant courses for the position are ‘Finance’, ‘Financial Accounting’ and ‘Business Economics’ – more specifically in the area of managerial economics.

Qualification requirements
Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent academic qualifications. Furthermore, applicants are encouraged to describe how their research is related to businesses and the energy sector. The description could include concrete collaborations, impact, dissemination activities, etc.

Non-Danish speakers are required to acquire a reasonable knowledge of the Danish language within three years. The department will grant time off from teaching to attend Danish courses during the first two years of employment.

Who we are
BTECH is part of Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University – a top 100 university. BTECH is located in the business-oriented and entrepreneurial city of Herning. The department excels in business and engineering disciplines and pays particular attention to company collaborations. We have around 1,800 students and close to 100 faculty and staff. Each year, approximately 500 students are involved in company projects in more than 250 companies ranging from SMEs to leading multinationals. Our incubator Business Factory launches 15 new companies each year.

We influence society through business development and technology. For this reason, many research projects are conducted in close collaboration with industry on the basis of new data and new technologies. These projects are generously supported by H2020, the Independent Research Fund Denmark and the Danish Industry Foundation, among others.
