My favorite places in Aarhus

Denmark’s number one student city is vibrant, young, and filled with beautiful places to hang out. I will share five of my favourite places in Aarhus with you where I like to spend my free time.

I am sharing with you five of my personal favorites in Aarhus.

The best thing about these places is that they are all completely free to visit and therefore student budget friendly! Yes, most of these places are outside and will be especially fun to visit during the warmer months but can also be enjoyed on a nice winter day.

5 favorite places in Aarhus

Here are my five favorite places in Aarhus that you should not miss to visit:

1. Den Permanente

This small beach right by the forest and ocean is a great place to visit all year round. In summer you can lie in the sun, read a good book, and go for a refreshing swim to cool off. You’ve probably heard about the Danish obsession with winter bathing and if you’re brave enough, Den Permanente is a perfect place to try it yourself. Even if you don’t enjoy swimming in winter, you could come here for a nice long walk through the forest and along the beach.

2. Universitetsparken (the university park)

The large park right at the main campus of Aarhus University is perfect for picnics with your friends, studying in the sun, or doing some outdoor activity like running or yoga.

3. Den Uendelige Bro (The Infinity Bridge)

This is one of Aarhus’ most famous landmarks. The Infinity bridge can only be visited between weeks 17 and 44 as it gets taken down each year during winter. This makes it the perfect place to spend a warm summer day. You’ll find crystal clear water to go swimming in and a lot of beautiful nature around the bridge to go exploring. Marselisborg Dyrehave (a park where you can watch and feed some deer – also for free) is very close by and is a great stop to visit as well.

4. Det Kongelige Bibliotek (the Royal Library)

One of the most beautiful libraries in Aarhus is also situated right by the main campus of AU. If you’re looking for a place to work on a group assignment, study alone in a quiet place or just want to get a delicious Saturday brunch with your friends, Det Kongelige Bibliotek is the place to go.

5. Salling Rooftop

And lastly, Salling Rooftop has one of the best views in all of Aarhus, is completely free to visit, and is conveniently situated right in the city centre. The atmosphere on the rooftop is very cool and I would recommend going during sunset.
