Information to participants about COVID-19

Guidelines and instructions for studies at COBE Lab

In this section you will find information about the lab's precautions to protect you and other participants. We ask you to take care and follow the 5 general guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19:

1.  Wash your hands frequently or sanitize your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub

2.  Cough or sneeze into your or sleeve, not your hands

3.  Limit physical contact – avoid handshakes, refuse kisses on the cheek and avoid hugging

4.  Be diligent with cleaning

5.  Keep your distance and ask others to be considerate

Limited activies and stay at the lab

  • Only one researcher or research assistant is allowed per study unless otherwise is coordinated with lab management.

Activities and participants

  • It is mandatory for researchers and research assistants to wear a face mask in the lab. Face masks are also available for participants and will be handed out by the researcher on request.
  • The front door to the lab is locked for visitors. You, as participant, will ring the door bell and researchers/research assistants will let you inside.
  • The maximum occupation is 1 participant at a time in the small lab rooms (lab 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E and 2F).
  • The maximum occupation is 8 participants at a time in the large computer labs (lab 1A and 1B). You must be seated in every other booth to keep a distance.
  • You must keep distance to each other in waiting areas.
  • Researchers and research assistants must help to ensure that the participants do not crowd in the waiting areas.
  • Avoid physical contacts such as shaking hands.
  • Researchers open windows occasionally to ensure air circulation - as a minimum before and after each session.
  • Researchers reserve at least 15 minutes between sessions to clean, desinfect and ventilate the lab room.
  • You, as participant, come right at your scheduled time and not before to avoid time in the waiting area.

Cleaning before and after each session

  • Labs and equipment must be cleaned before and after use by the researchers. Surfaces, keyboards, mice, door handles, equipment and other contact points must be cleaned with water and soap before and after each session.
  • Pens, used for filling in consent forms and payment information, must be cleaned before and after use.
  • Cleaning agents are available in each lab room.

Symptoms of illness

  • Participants, researchers and research assistants must stay at home in case of any symptoms. All cancellations because of symptoms must be marked as excused no-shows in Sona.
  • If any symptoms occur during sessions with the participant, researcher or research assistant the session must stop and you will be asked to leave. A minimum of the show-up fee is paid in this case.

Hygiene

  • Wash hands often and carefully - and before and after each session
