Researcher Spotlight #9—Martin Bagger

Martin Bagger becomes the next researcher we focus our attention as part of our 'Spotlight' feature.

Martin Bagger

1. Martin—what is your background and job role at AU?

I have a bachelor in Business Administration and a Master in Business Intelligence (both from Aarhus University). I am currently a PhD student at the Department of Economics and Business Economics, but I started out at the former Department of Business Administration.

2. What are your main areas of research?

In my PhD I focus on visual attention in decision making, and I have collaborated with Jacob Lund Orquin and Anne Odile Peschel.

3. Are you involved with any teaching at the moment?

I am not involved in teaching at the moment, but I have mostly been involved in teaching statistics and quantitative methods courses.

4. How did you hear about Cognition and Behavior Lab?

I think I was introduced to COBE Lab by my supervisor and COBE Lab board member Joachim Scholderer, when I started my PhD. At that time COBE Lab had not yet started, but I had the luxury of being part of that process.

5. How have you used the Lab so far (types of studies)?

I have mainly used Lab 2 facilities for conducting eye tracking experiments.

6. Is there a particular recommendation you would like to pass on to other researchers? Something you wish you had known before you started, or just a useful trick.

I have learned it is always a good idea to discuss your thoughts and ideas with colleagues. Also, I would recommend others to engage in collaborative work, while remembering to believe in what you think is a good idea.

7. Could you recommend one academic book to fellow colleagues that you think is of great interest?

I think I would recommend the book "Eye Tracking—A Comprehensive Guide to Methods and Measures" by Kenneth Holmqvist et al. That book covers most of what you need, if you want to use eye tracking in your research.

8. Away from your research, what do you enjoy doing?

Being a father of three small boys, I enjoy spending time with my family, and what we do does not matter too much, but besides family I love to play music.

9. Finally, which Associated Researcher would you like to see under 'Spotlight' next time?

Jacob Lund Orquin
