Research

My research focuses on how parties compete with each other in particular in terms of setting the issue agenda and how this competition affects political decision making on issues like immigration, welfare-state reforms and euthanasia. I have also studied how the mass media influence party competition.

My focus is on Denmark in a comparative perspective and I have in particular focused on the Netherlands, Sweden and Ireland.

My latest project investigates how voters view cooperation and coalition building amongst political parties.

Teaching activities

teach various courses at the BA level, particular introduction to public policy, but also introduction to political science and seminars on political parties. At the MA level, I have taught seminars on party politics and agenda setting, media and politics, welfare-state theory, and morality issues like euthanasia and abortion. I have also supervised numerous MA theses on all these topics.

In addition, I have taught public policy to students on the politics and economics BA program as well as media and politics to students on the journalism MA program
