The main research interests of Alexander are in behavioral and experimental economics and the economics of education. In his recent research, he has investigated goals as self-regulation tools, mental accounting and bracketing, buyer reputation in auctions, nudging, and applications of behavioral economics to education economics. He has published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Journal of Economic Theory, and RAND Journal of Economics, among other journals.
