Søren Serritzlew is a professor of political science at Aarhus BSS at Aarhus University, and he will head Independent Research Fund Denmark (IRFD) for the next four years.

IRFD is an independent organisation that manages public funding for independent research in Denmark. In 2024, funding amounted to DKK 1.9 billion.

- Independent Research Fund Denmark plays a crucial role in the food chain of Danish research. With his strong research background and his knowledge about IRFD, Søren is an excellent choice for the chair, says Peter Munk Christiansen, head of department at the Department of Political Science.

Søren Serritzlew has been appointed by Minister for Higher Education and Science Christina Egelund. In a press release from IRFD, she says:

- High-quality research is more important than ever if we are to meet today’s challenges, and those of tomorrow. Therefore, I’m delighted that such a strong and internationally recognised profile as Søren Serritzlew has agreed to lead Independent Research Fund Denmark's important work to strengthen the quality of Danish research. I’m convinced that, with his extensive experience in foundation and council work, his interdisciplinary research profile and his strong strategic skills, he’ll set a good course for future work by the foundation.
