Ulrik Federspiel

Ambassador, Vice President for Global Affairs, Haldor Topsøe, Denmark.

Ulrik Federspiel is Vice President for Global Affairs in the Danish energy and environment company Haldor Topsøe A/S. Mr Federspiel received his master’s degree in political science from Aarhus University and another master’s degree in international relations from University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. In 1991, he was appointed Permanent State Secretary for Foreign Affairs in Denmark and, in 1993, the Danish Prime Minister appointed him his Chief of Staff which included serving as Secretary to Her Majesty the Queen in the Council of Ministers. 

In 1993-97, he was a member of the Board of the University of Copenhagen and is currently member of the Advisory Board of the President of the University of Copenhagen.

In 1997, Mr Federspiel became Ambassador to Ireland and in 2000 Ambassador to the United States of America. Since 2001, he has been an Honorary Trustee of the Crown Prince Frederik Fund at Harvard University. In 2005-09, he again served in the Danish Government as State Secretary for Foreign Affairs.

In 2011, he was appointed honorary alumni of Aarhus School of Business and Social Sciences.
In addition to the abovementioned, he has written several articles and a book on EU integration.
