This introductory course is designed to give researchers and research assistants the tools to run experiments efficiently in COBE Lab. The course will offer insights into the process of getting applications approved, introductions to our various systems as well as the resources and assistance we provide, tips on recruiting and booking, and much more.

The course is split into two parts, with a tour of the lab in between. Part one deals largely with the application process, while part two deals with the problems and questions that arise when you are running an experiment. 

Note that the course only runs a maximum of four times a year, so if you are considering doing research in COBE Lab, you may want to join the course as part of your preparations, even if you are not far along in the planning process. Researchers with prior experience in the lab may also want to join the course to be updated on the current procedures.

Preparation

It is a good idea to have read the documentation that researchers must submit to get their project approved (the Pre-study Form, Research Ethics Checklist, and Consent Form Template). These documents will be presented as part of the course, but the aim will be to discuss their use and purpose. If you read the documents in advance, you will be better prepared to ask specific questions.
