Postdoctoral position in knowledge integration at Aarhus BSS 967029

The Department of Management at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University, invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral position offering applicants an exciting opportunity to join a new research project on knowledge integration aimed at advancing practice and process agenda in the context of open innovation.

The starting date for the successful candidate is the June 1 2018 or subject to mutual agreement.
The research project
The project aims at investigating how external knowledge is assimilated and absorbed into the firm. The project focuses at the individual level of analysis, zooming in on the work practices of individuals who are seconded to external innovation projects or internal corporate ventures and who are therefore the main connectors between the external knowledge and the firm.

The project aims to strengthen companies’ ability to assimilate and absorb external knowledge. It will contribute to the innovation management and knowledge transfer fields, but it also aims at generating a deeper understanding and clarity on how to theorize from process and practice research.
Who are you?
Candidates must hold a PhD relevant to the academic areas of the Department of Management, preferably with experience within one or more of the following areas: Innovation management, Knowledge transfer, Organisation studies, and Management Information Systems.

It is an advantage if the candidate has experience in conducting qualitative research (e.g. practice research, process research, and ethnography).

The successful candidate demonstrates strong verbal and written English skills. Danish language skills are an advantage as some of the case companies of this project will be Danish companies.

Job description
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the overall objectives of the project by being involved in the research design, data collection (field studies in Denmark and around the world, e.g., interviews, observation), data analysis, writing of articles and the development of knowledge related to theorizing based on process and practice research. The position is research-oriented but may involve teaching assignments.

The Department of Management is one of the six departments at Aarhus BSS, one of the four faculties at Aarhus University. Aarhus BSS unites the research fields of business and social sciences bringing them closer together to reflect  the  close  relationship  between  society  and  the  business  community.  As part of a Top 100 university, Aarhus BSS has achieved the distinguished AASCB, AMBA and EQUIS accreditations. 

The department’s research and teaching environment is highly international and culturally diverse with a mix of  Danish and international academic staff members and PhD students. We employ more than 160 academic staff including researchers, PhD students, research associates and cover a broad range of disciplines within     management, e.g. marketing, corporate communication, international business, organization, HR, strategy, management accounting, innovation management, entrepreneurship, project management, and information systems. We aim to conduct high-quality research, and we give high priority to publishing our research in leading academic journals and presenting it at recognised conferences. In addition, we have a dynamic exchange of international researchers, who stay at the department for short or long periods of time.

Terms of employment
The appointment is in accordance with the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Danish Universities as well as the circular on the Collective Agreement for Academics Employed by the State.
