Postdoctoral position in the SMART HOME research project 964366

The Department of Management at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University, invites applications for a 2-year postdoctoral position offering applicants an exciting opportunity to join a new research project on the digital transformation of the home industry to the smart home industry. The postdoc may be extended with one more year after the first two.

The starting date is 1 May 2018 or subject to mutual agreement.

The research project

The project will address topics related to the changes facing producers and suppliers to Smart Homes and their ecosystem.

This will include how digitalization and new customer touchpoints are changing the role of the traditional B2B Smart Home supplier.

The project will investigate the general digital maturity of the Smart Home suppliers and their ecosystems and look into future Smart Home digital products, partners and business model. This will also include a study of the necessary changes in leadership competences and organizational design.

The purpose of the project is to strengthen Danish companies producing or supplying Smart Home solutions. The project partners will develop new digital business models, customer relations, strategies and management, so that the companies will be able to engage in a digital ecosystem and create growth. The aim of the project is to create measurable impact in the Smart Home companies and their ecosystem. The development work will be facilitated by researchers and consultants in a co-creation process and result in number of dissemination activities and research publications aimed at sharing the knowledge and experiences with a broader audience of Danish companies and academia. The project is funded by Industriens Fond.

Job description
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the overall objectives of the project by being in direct contact with the involved companies and their development. Further, the successful candidate will be involved in collecting and analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data. Additionally the successful candidate will be involved in writing the reports from the project.

The position is research-oriented but may involve teaching assignments in connection to the dissemination of the project results.

Qualifications
Candidates must hold a PhD relevant to the academic areas of the Department of Management, preferably within one or more of the following areas: Strategy, Organization, Information Systems, Innovation Management, Marketing, Consumer Behavior, Technology Management.

Preferably candidates will also have relevant prior experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Qualitative data collection
  • Data analytics
  • Digital transformation
  • Experience in working with and presenting to practitioners
  • Publishing on innovation management, marketing, strategy, technology managementinformation systems, or scenario planning
Preferably candidates will also:
  • Have strong communication and facilitation skills (e.g. documented experience in running workshop with industry)
  • Be fluent in English, both oral and written.
  • It will be an advantage if the candidate speaks Danish

The Department of Management is one of the six departments at Aarhus BSS, one of the four faculties at Aarhus University.
