Researcher spotlight #20 - Linda Greve

In this edition of spotlight, Linda Greve tells us about her background and research

Hi Linda, what is your background and job role at AU?

I am an Educational Developer at Center for Teaching and Learning, Aarhus BSS. My background is very interdisciplinary. I did my master's in Theology and studied Rhetoric and Journalism on the side. My PhD is in business communication from Aarhus BSS.

What are your main areas of research?

My main interest is knowledge communication through metaphors. Currently I am collaborating with Carsten Bergenholtz on a student retention project and with Anne Skorkjær Binderkranzt on a project on note taking and approaches to learning.

Are you involved with any teaching at the moment?

I teach Lecturing at the Teaching Training Programme as well as give courses on research presentation for junior and senior staff.

How did you hear about Cognition and Behavior Lab?

Well... I am married to the lab manager...

Have you used the Lab? If so, what are the benefits for researchers?

Thus far I have mainly used equipment from the Lab, and not the lab facilities per se. I have however taken experiments conducted in the Lab out into the world to see how they play out in a non-experimental setting.

Is there a particular recommendation you would like to pass on to other researchers? Something you wish you had known before you started, or just a useful trick.

I really recommend taking experiments out of the Lab once in a while. However this should be done with the same amount of rigor as the in-lab-experiments.

Could you recommend one academic book to fellow colleagues that you think is of great interest?

I really enjoyed reading "Enactivist Interventions: Rethinking the Mind" by Shaun Gallagher. He touches upon important points in both metaphor research, cognition and philosophy of science

Away from your research, what do you enjoy doing?

I'm currently experimenting with the impacts of submerging in cold sea water at the Viking Club in Jomsborg - but other than that I enjoy being active and spending time with friends and family.

Finally, which Associated Researcher would you like to see under 'Spotlight' next time?
