New HSC member Cordula Vesper

We are pleased to welcome Cordula Vesper as the new member of our human subjects committee.

Cordula is an Assistant Professor (Adjunkt) at the School of Communication and Culture since September 2017. Her research interests focus on the cognitive processes that allow groups of people to perform collaborative actions together – from a simple handshake to having a meaningful conversation to playing a piano duet.

Her main approach is to investigate these processes with experimental designs that measure two or more people’s movements, reaction times or task performance at the same time. This focus on real interactive settings naturally affords a balance between experimental control and ecological validity and often requires overcoming challenges with respect to experimental procedures and data analysis.

Cordula’s background is in Cognitive Science and Neuro-cognitive Psychology, which she studied in her home country Germany. She received her PhD about joint actions from Radboud University Nijmegen (Netherlands) and she worked at Central European University in Budapest (Hungary) before coming to Denmark. Cordula is a young fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies in Bielefeld, Germany, a research initiative fostering interdisciplinary exchange. At Aarhus University, she is teaching in the Cognitive Semiotics program.

Cordula has volunteered to represent the Arts environment. She has a very broad and deep knowledge of experimental design and will be a great addition to the Human Subjects Comittee. Welcome on board!
