Student Instructors for Introduction to Statistics 949677

The Department of Management is looking for 2-3 student instructors for the course Introduction to Statistics, which is a 4th semester course of the programme Bachelor in Marketing and Management Communication. The position is available from January 30, 2018.

Academic content of the course
Students of this course will be introduced to bivariate statistics with Excel and SPSS.
In particular, they will learn how to:
•    manage datasets in Excel
•    perform basic calculations with formulas and functions in Excel
•    describe and summarize data in SPSS (mean, standard deviation, quartiles)
•    conduct bivariate analyses in SPSS (correlations, chi square, t-test, Wilcoxon test, Mann Whitney U test)

Tasks of the student instructors

As a student instructor, you will teach the tutorials of this course. In the tutorials, the students will work on assignments based on the content of the lectures. The lecturer will prepare these assignments and will be available as sparring partner. It is important to be in regular contact with the lecturer before and during the semester to ensure that the tutorials run smoothly.

Teaching will take place in weeks 11, 14, 16, and 18 (3 hours each week) within the time span from 8-18 (Monday to Thursday) and 8-16 on Fridays, taking into consideration the schedule of your own classes. As an applicant, you must be aware that the instructor lessons will be at fixed times each week and thus cannot be moved from week to week, unless they coincide with your own classes.
 
Your qualifications
You should be a master student in business or economics with a strong interest in quantitative data analysis, excellent knowledge of Excel, and solid knowledge of SPSS. Your application will be assessed based on your academic, pedagogical and personal qualifications. Among other things, the academic level will be evaluated based on your grades and you are asked to include them in your application.

The employment will be conditional on having passed or at the beginning of the employment passes the Faculty's course on group instruction for student instructors

•Employment is according to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and SUL (student instructors). •The application must include confirmation of enrolment and transcript of the Examination Register.
